The President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Modibbo Hamman Tukur as the new Director of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU). The nomination is in accordance with the provision of Section 5(1) of the NFIU Act 2018. The presidents nomination was contained in a letter dated January 7, 2019 to the Senate President seeking the confirmation of the nominee by the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly. Tukur, from Adamama State, is a holder of Master of Science (MSc) degree in International Business. He is currently an Assistant Director in the NFIU, and has vast international experience in illegal assets recovery.

Phil Jones a Manchester United defender  says Sunday’s clash with Tottenham will test the strength of the team’s recent revival under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United have won all five matches since Solskjaer took the helm at Old Trafford following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month. Spurs, who are third in the Premier League, are likely to provide the toughest challenge so far at Wembley on Sunday. “Spurs is a good test,” said Jones. “We are in good form and have some momentum going. We have steadied the ship a bit. “We have not done anything yet, we have not achieved anything, but we need to keep it going.  All Progressives Congress party  is turning things upside down. An APC Women Leader in Rivers State and her son, have allegedly stabbed a  man, Chimezie Dike to death for placing campaign posters in their neigbourhood. According to reports, Chimezie who is not a member of the ruling party, APC, was paid some money to paste the posters. However on getting to Azubike street, he was challenged by one Henry Ekeozor, son of an APC women leader, Ifeoma Ekeozor. Ekeozor and Owondah are both of APC in the state but belong to different factions. Henry and his mother had asked Chike not to paste the poster on their residence but he refused and an argument ensued. Things degenrated into a fight and Henry stabbed Chike in the chest. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed him dead. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, said investigations into the incident is still ongoing.

The United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward has shortlisted five candidates to become the club’s next permanent manager. Woodward sacked former United manager, Jose Mourinho last month and replaced the Portuguese gaffer with former Red Devils player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer . Solskjaer, who took over from Mourinho, was appointed as a caretaker manager to lead the club still the end of this current season. However, according to The Sun, Woodward identified Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino as his first choice to become the next United manager. The report claimed that Frenchmen, Zinedine Zidane and Laurent Blanc are also both on the list.
