Davido emerged the biggest winner at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2018 held in Accra, Ghana. The ‘Fia’ singer won awards in three categories while his Nigerian counterpart, Eazi, won his in two categories at the event which held on Saturday. Tiwa Savage and Falz also won awards at the 5th All Africa Music Awards, on Saturday night. Davido scooped Africa’s artiste of the year, with his album, FIA. He also won the best male artiste in West Africa. Tiwa Savage won West Africa’s best female artiste and Falz ran away with best African rapper award. The night of honours did not belong solely to the active artistes. The Nigerian Election Debate Group has fixed December 14, 2018 for a debate for presidential candidates of different political parties taking part in the 2019 elections. The vice presidential candidates are billed to take their turn on January 19, 2019. The group’s chairman, Mr. John Momoh, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. Momoh who is also the chairman of the Broadcasting Organisation added that the debates will hold at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and will be broadcast live by all BON members. President Muhammadu Buhari is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate.  Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, has said that the people of Kwara will retire Sen. Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate from active politics in 2019 He said this on Monday in Abuja, while speaking with newsmen at the end of a meeting of the party`s National Working Committee (NWC). Oshiomhole stressed that the way the people of Kwara voted in Saturday`s House of Representatives by-election in the state, was an attestation that they were tired of Saraki mismanaging their political life. “I am sure Saraki would be politically retired by the good people of kwara whom he has mismanaged their economic and political rights over the years. “I am very excited about that and we think that this is something worth celebrating and we took time to celebrate it today,” Oshiomhole said. Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar  of PDP is facing another series of controversies after a group of Nigerians petitioned the Federal Internal Revenue Service FIRS, demanding the 2015 and 2016 tax receipts of former Vice President now Presidential candidate of PDP in 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar. In the letter signed by the duo of Nelson Ekujumi and Solomon Sobade, the group said information at their disposal shows that Atiku did not pay his Personal Income Tax for several years and only ran to the FIRS in April this year to pay the back-log of only his 2015 – 2017 taxes to meet up with the requirements of INEC. The 37 year old Inspiration FM’s on-air personality, Oluwatosin ‘Tosyn’ Bucknor, was reportedly found dead by husband, Aurelien Boyer, when he arrived home from work on Monday night. The news was confirmed by her former colleague at Top Radio, Wale Adigun, via his Twitter account. “So full of life, excitement and always willing to lend a helping hand. This is so devastating!! “Rest on Voice of Lagos. Rest on Tosyn Bucknor,” Adigun wrote. The media personality, a graduate of law from the University of Lagos, was born with sickle cell anaemia. The singer was reportedly held hostage by students of the institution after allegedly collecting N3m for a show and failing to show up for his performance. This nollywood actor Jigan , was beaten by soldiers, at a bar in Elegushi beach at the early hours of today. The actor and his musician friend, Jaywon, were their for the birthday celebration of their colleague, singer DannyS, when the incident occurred. Trouble allegedly started when a member of their crew engaged in a fight and injured someone, who then reported the matter to some soldiers around. However, Jigan and Jaywon were said to be trying to defend the attacker, with Jigan quoted as saying “don’t you know who I am?,” a statement that angered the soldiers, who then brought out their horsewhip and started flogging him. Everything later degenerated into a state of chaos, with people fleeing and the birthday party ending abruptly.

 Ondo State former governor, Olusegun Mimiko has resolved to quit the 2019 Presidential race. Mimiko, who is the Presidential candidate of Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) has decided to instead contest for Senate. Mimiko, would any moment from now, announce his ambition to contest for Ondo Central Senatorial District in 2019. “It’s true, Iroko (Mimiko) is no longer vying for the presidential seat again because he has decided to change his mind by making u-turn after our meeting,” said the source. “He now prefers to contest for the Senate seat and would now be the candidate of our party for the Ondo Central Senatorial District.” Although, Gboye Adegbenro, the Commissioner for Works during the tenure of Mimiko, had also been gunning for same position under the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). It was gathered that Adegbenro’s name had already been enlisted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a candidate of Ondo Central Senatorial District.
